Plain English version of how I handle your data.
This is my consulting site. There are no accounts, no signups, no purchases. The privacy story is short. Here it is.
Three things, basically.
If you email me, I have your email address and whatever you wrote. I keep it in my inbox so I can reply and have a record of the conversation.
If you visit the site, Google Analytics records the visit. That includes the page you looked at, roughly where in the world you are, what browser you're using, and how you got here. It uses cookies. I use this to see whether anyone's reading what I write. Nothing more granular than that.
If you're a site admin, the site sets a session cookie so you can stay logged in. That's only me.
Email: so I can reply to you and remember what we've talked about.
Analytics: so I have a rough sense of who's reading the site and which pages are useful.
Session cookie: so the admin login works.
I don't sell or rent your data to anyone.
Google sees the analytics data, because Google runs the analytics. Their privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.
I read and store emails in Google Workspace, so Google sees those too as the email host.
That's it.
Emails: indefinitely, unless you ask me to delete them.
Analytics: per Google's default retention settings.
Under UK GDPR you can ask me to:
Email me and I'll do it. I might need to confirm it's actually you first.
Google Analytics sets cookies. You can block them in your browser, or use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
This site isn't aimed at children. I don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you think your child has emailed me, get in touch and I'll delete what I have.
I'll update this notice when I need to. The date at the top tells you when I last did.
Tell me who you are and what your organisation does. If any of this sounds like your situation, that's a good place to start. I'll let you know honestly whether I can help. Even a 30 to 45 minute call often leaves people with a clearer picture of the path forward, whether or not we end up working together.
For context: I work best with programme managers, partners, operations directors, and IT leads in UK law firms, financial services, manufacturing, charities, and non profits. Respectfully, I don't work with recruitment or development agencies.
